1st ASEAN Social Medial Exchange
Written by Delwin Keasberry Thursday, 27 October 2011 16:09
I was contacted just over two weeks ago by the a consultant from Media Consulta based in Berlin, Germany and it went along the lines of "we would like to invite you to participate in a dialogue session in Jakarta". I was like "spam! scam!" but after a number of emails, an intercontinental Skype video call and a few calls to the local German Embassy (yea, I am thorough like that) I found that it was legit.

So here I am blogging live from Jakarta, Indonesia at the 1st ASEAN Social Media Exchange & Social Media Communication Strategy for ASEAN. This informal dialogue event was put together by GIZ together with Media Consulta and Fortune PR, and a large part of the discussion to date has been themed around "Social Media in ASEAN". There are 16 of us here including other social media personalities from the ASEAN region, a consultant from Yahoo Indonesia, the ASEAN secretariat and other consultants for the European Commision and ASEAN.
I am honored to be here.
Topics include the Status Quo of Social Media in ASEAN, Obstacles and Opportunities, Best Practices, etc. Steps will then put into place regarding Social Media Strategy for ASEAN.
