"The Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) combines the best of pop culture from East and West, uniting the worlds of comics, anime, manga, toys, collectibles, games and movies."
Well, that’s what it says on the brochure anyway. You see, STGCC was much more than just a gathering of people with common interests. It was more like an opportunity for those to stretch beyond what they’ve read , watched and imagined through the influence of comics, manga, anime etc and actually experience what was otherwise thought as a two dimensional medium we have all grown to worship and love.
I can personally assure this from my first hand experience in attending the annual Singapore event without ignoring the hype of it being my first actual attendance at a, for lack of a better word, ‘Geek’ convention.

My name’s Fadli Z., a Bruneian student of Pusat Tingkatan Enam Meragang (PTEM). I’m an opinionated, idealistic and friendly individual and an aspiring writer always looking a sense of adventure in my life. My lifetime role models are my parents and my inspirations are my creative aspirations to be apart a new generation of independent and innovative Bruneian youths. This is my story voice.
As a student, you’d find me to be one of those who have a passion to promote positive trends and roles in today’s society. “Ask not what the school can do for you, but what you can do for the school”, my Principal would always say. It’s a great instilling passion when it came to PTEM so I’ve always had this attraction towards an active participation in student body organizations that carves a sort of platform to contribute my own voice, planning events and creating a reputation for myself as an avid speaker and ambitious individual.
What do you do?
I recently just graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in December 2010. Currently, I am working at the ilm academy and I am also a deejay at Kristal FM. Asides from these, I keep myself busy with whatever - magic, music, family, etc.
When you were living overseas, what did you miss most about Brunei?
I was gone for three years, living in Melbourne, which is one the best cities in the world. Apart from family, the thing I missed most about Bru-City was the food. I mean, where else in the world can you get amazing Nasi Lemak for BND1.00, seriously? (FYI, in Melbourne it's at least AUD8.00 a plate)
Describe yourself in a few words.
I think the few words that best describe me are...
What do you do?
I am currently studying in the University of Bristol in the UK doing BSc. Politics. I am coming to my last year in Bristol.
Describe yourself in a few words.
I grew up mostly in Sengkurong, in the Brunei Muara District. Quiet especially with new people. Athletic and fitness freak! Self confessed coffee addict.
What do you do?
First off, I am not a designer, if anything I am closer to being more of a stylist.
I help clients create a style for their outfits by listening to what they like. Sometimes I help with minimal tweaking and suggest added embellishments to the designs hence turning it to unique pieces in their own right that would reflect the personalities of their owners.
I also manage a team of in house tailors and run a boutique. Bajoo Boutique & Tailoring.
Describe yourself in a few words.
Sassy, strong willed and definitely a Perfectionist.
